In February, the FFA sponsored a Kiss-the-Goat competition to raise money for TJ Rufty, a 2013 Middletown High School graduate, who was diagnosed with Berketts lymphoma. TJ was a part of the FFA when he attended Middletown. During lunch, students were asked to donate any spare change into jars with specific teacher volunteers. The teacher who had the most money in their jar by the end of the week was asked to kiss a goat.

Deputy Tim Calimar was the winner and kissed, not one but two, goats. The goats belong to FFA officer Katie Mayne. The FFA collected a total of $116.00 in donations and the chapter passed a motion to donate $34.00 to the fundraiser. The Linganore FFA Chapter will donate a total of $150.00 to the family of TJ Rufty to help with medical expenses.
