The Celebrate My Drive campaign continues until Friday. Commit every day this week to drive safely.  Just go to celebratemydrive.com to help our school possibly win $100,000.  We are in the top half of schools and need every vote to help us move up the rankings.  You can vote every day! Of the Frederick County schools, Walkersville is currently ahead of us.  Let’s beat those Lions and move ahead.

Undergraduates who wish to do picture retakes will be able to do so on Wednesday October 22. Look for postings by the front office.

The Red Cross Blood Drive is this Wednesday! They Need your help, numbers are VERY low. So If you are 16 or older, please sign-up to give blood and save up to 3 lives! You also get a cool t-shirt just for donating. Please see Mr. Brown to pick a time to donate and get your paperwork.Give the gift of life and donate.

As part of our October focus on Bullying and as part of our Homecoming theme to celebrate One Tribe, the SGA will be screening the movie Bully  tonight.  The movie takes a candid look at how bullying really can affect students.  Take a look at this preview.  See the whole film tonight here at LHS.  7:00 PM.  It’s free to come and so is the popcorn!

A limited number of homecoming dance tickets will be sold today in room C101  from 2:15 pm until 2:45 pm. Tickets are now priced at $25.00 each. Any Questions? Contact Mr. Brown.

All SGA students, if you plan on facilitating Mix It Up Day next Tuesday, please return your permission slip to Mr. Hornbeck TOMORROW at 2:15 PM.  Please plan to stay for a 15 minute training session which will end by 2:45.   You may also drop your form by Room A229 anytime.

Any students wishing to take part in a quiet study hall during the Pep Rally on Friday must sign up in the Media Center by 2:15 Thursday. This will be a quiet study environment only. Computers will not be available for use.

The Child Development Classes are selling Homecoming T-shirts all week during lunch  to benefit the Little Lancers Preschool. Shirts are $15.00 and sizes are limited  so buy early to ensure your Homecoming apparel!

The Linganore Marching Band competed at Tournament of Bands Chapter Championships at South Hagerstown High School on Saturday.  The Lancer Band came away with its fifth consecutive regional championship, also winning awards for best music and best visual.  The band will move on to Atlantic Coast Championships in Hershey, PA, this weekend.  Congratulations to our champion Lancer Band!  There are two pics

And now for our German fact of the day! German Chocolate Cake is not German.  The cake recipe was invented by Americans. It gets its name from Sam German who worked as a chocolatier for Baker’s Chocolate Company. If you want a real GERMAN chocolate layer cake, look for Blackforest Cherry Cake.

Thank you to everyone who helped with, participated in, or just came to see the 2014 Homecoming Parade.  It was a great day and everyone had fun!  The judges made their picks and the results for the entries are:  In third place- the Class of 2016, in second place- the FFA, and in 1st place- the Class of 2017.  Congratulations to everyone!

As you can tell from all the PJs today, it’s spirit week!  The fun continues all week.  Tomorrow is Team Maryland Day.  Wear anything the represents the state flag or a team in our state- University of Maryland, the Ravens, the Os, or just your MD Flag shorts.

And now for sports related news!

Attention to those who are interested in trying out for a spot on this year’s Boys 9th, JV, or Varsity Basketball teams: please stop by Coach Kraft’s office to sign up and pick up paperwork. You will not be able to try out without proper paperwork filled out.

Congratulations to the varsity football team who took on Walkersville and won with a score of 27-7, great job guys!
