All Members of the Science National Honor Society are reminded that this Saturday from 9-12 p.m. will be a workday at the Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary.  Students are reminded to bring loppers, shears, and work gloves.

Any members of the Science National Honor Society who is in need of community service hours can volunteer for the December evening shows at the Earth Space Science Laboratory in Frederick.  There are 9 openings. See Mr. Sunkel in Room A139 if interested.

Today the Tri-M Music Honor Society will be holding a school cleanup  from 2:30-4:30 pm for the annual FCPS Marching Band Festival. The festival, which will be held at Linganore High School on Monday, October 13th, is an event that every FCPS high school marching band attends. All students are encouraged to help out! Meet in the band room, D115, at 2:30.

PEZ was invented in Vienna, Austria, in 1927 as a breath mint.  The name comes from the German word for peppermint (Pfefferminz).  In 1948 the company redesigned the PEZ dispenser so that it resembles a cigarette lighter to encourage people to substitute the mints for cigarettes.

All band members! Sign-up sheets are available in the band room for three university honor bands: Towson University, Shepherd University and Virginia Tech.  The deadline for signing up is this Tuesday, October 14 at 3:00 pm.  Please see Mr. Lloyd with any questions.

Also, Any second semester band students who have not received a fall fundraiser packet should pick one in the band room.  The due date for orders and money is next Thursday, October 16.

This is a reminder that all vehicles, including both students and staff, need to be removed from both sides of the student lot by 4:30 on Monday for the FCPS marching band ferstival.

National Honor Society Applications are due on Monday, October 13th by 2:30pm to Mrs. Sands in room C221 or Mr. Lake in room C124.

Congratulations to the JV and Varsity Volleyball teams for their wins over Walkersville.  Many thanks to all who supported them in our Dig Pink game and to those who have contributed to the Side-Out Foundation supporting breast cancer awareness and research.

Congratulations to the Unified Tennis Team for beating Frederick by the match score of 7-3. Outstanding job Lancers!

The varsity football team will be traveling to oakdale for a game tonight. The game begins at 7pm and it is a pink out. Hope to see you there!
