This is the seventh story in Lancer Media’s Summer Series: Most Likely to… These feature stories highlight students who are becoming role models of Lancer Spirit.

In the morning, many students struggle to keep their eyes open, practically dragging themselves to class.

Not rising senior Julia Peigh. She moves through the hallway with light and life.

“There is good in everything. You just have to look at it in the right way,” said Peigh.

Because of her positive attitude, she excels in many leadership positions. During junior year, she was the co-secretary for the Latin Club. She is looking forward to Latin Club  her senior year, becoming the Historian. She loves photography.

Peigh first started taking pictures at age eight. However, she did not take her first class in photography until her this past year.

“Julia  is very creative and talented, a pleasure to have in class. I look forward to having her in further levels of photography,” said her teacher Tracey Ellis-Guss.

Peigh’s photograph, “Spiral Ice,” was entered in  the Frederick County Youth Art Month show. The same photograph also earned a third place award for feature photography in the Frederick News Post Awards.

“People often think of teenagers as sullen and withdrawn. Julia is as different from that  stereotype as she could be. She is bubbly, optimistic, kind and friendly. She finds beauty and joy in small things. She is a hopeless nerd and proud of it,” said Peigh’s mom.

Next year she joins Noah Ismael as Drum Major. Drum Majors conduct the band and are responsible for the performance of the band, as well as day-to-day rehearsals.

“I see myself as a band kid,” said Peigh. She has been active with the LHS band since  freshman year. She plays the clarinet, and she is still enthusiastic about her fourth year of the indoor color guard.

“I hope to be  an inspiration to new people,” said Peigh. “I have learned different leadership skills, people skills and how far a positive attitude can go while at Linganore.”

Peigh doesn’t have a post high school plan, but she wants to be involved in the arts in some way.
