5/24/22: Lancers fall short of State Championship.

The Linganore Lancers fell short on their road to states, losing in overtime to the Mt. Hebron Vikings. The Lancers lost 6-5, during the sudden death overtime.
The Lancers lost to the Mt. Hebron Vikings 6-5, at Crofton High School, in Gambrills MD. Mt. Hebron will advance to the MPSSAA 3A State Championship game this Wednesday at Loyola College. The Vikings will take on the defending champions, Severna Park.
The Lancers leading scorer was senior Sean Mullineax, with 2 goals. Cole Stansbury, Shawn Eisenhart, and Cody Griffis each got one goal. The Lancers finished their season with a record of 13-2, finishing

Linganore was leading 1-0 at the end of the first quarter, but things soon fell apart as Mt. Hebron came back and was leading 2-1 at the half. Linganore than went on a streak, scoring 4 straight goals. The Vikings made plays to bring them back and tie the game, 5-5, as the fourth quarter expired.
22 seconds into overtime, Vikings sophomore, Keegan Ryan, scored the game winning goal in overtime, sending the Vikings to the State Championship game.
Mt. Hebron is a public high school located in Ellicott City, MD. It is a part of the Howard County Public Schools System. The Vikings have won 4 state championships in their schools history, 1991, 1999, 2002, and in 2006.
Linganore was coming off a 14-8 victory against Tuscarora, advancing them to the state semifinals. Linganore has won two state championships, in 2011 and 2016.
