May 25, 2022
On May 24, 2022, seniors officially graduated from high school and received their diplomas at Mount St. Mary’s University.
“I was really surprised at how well everything turned out. I mean yes we practiced for a reason but everything just looked amazing when practicing and when doing it for real,” Caroline Hobson said. She went on to say how much she enjoyed everything and how proud she was of everyone that was a part of it. “Each graduation advisor knew what they were doing and really helped us so that we looked perfect for graduation. I think another thing I was surprised with was the band, it was very nice having live music to walk into and they were just so dedicated.”
Family and friends were able to watch a live stream of the graduation ceremony allowing every loved one to be able to watch and be a part of the experience.
Along with the class graduating, Ms. Jessica Baker won the Golden Lance award. The Golden Lance award is nominated by members of the senior class. It is based on the six pillars of character: respect, trustworthiness, caring, fairness, citizenship, and responsibility.
“Receiving the award was a significant achievement for me because only a select few teachers have won in Linganore’s history. While I was standing in front of the graduating class, I was looking at all of the students that I had taught during their four years at LHS and I realized the impact I had on so many students. It was an unforgettable feeling,” said Baker.
Senior Matt Coffey won the Golden Lance Award for the senior class. Coffey served as an SGA officer throughout high school.
