Lancer Spotlight 10/14/21-Mother-Daughter duo takes on the 47th Annual Community Show
For the Soveros, the community show was win, win, and more win. In total, the mother daughter duo took home 12 winning ribbons.
Senior Abbey Sovero has been a part of the community show since her sophomore year. Her photography teacher, Mrs. Bozzonetti encouraged her class to enter their photos into the show.
This year Sovero entered six of her photographs in a variety of categories, ranging from scrapbook to people to animals.
“I like showing off some of my pictures for the community and others to see. It’s always been fun, and, usually, I win a little bit of extra cash as well,” said Sovero.
She wasn’t the only one in her family to enter, joining her in this year’s community show was her mom, Kenda Sovero. This was Mrs. Sovero first time participating in the community show. She entered a variety of things shes either grown or made, from flower arrangements to decorative wreaths to home grown vegetables.
“My mom and I volunteered to help set up the community show, and once my mom realized how many different things you could enter, she decided she wanted to give it a go,” said Sovero. The purpose of the Community Show is to unite the communities and districts surrounding Linganore High School to present a show of their talents and agricultural produce.
Sovero took home four first place ribbons and two second place ribbons. Mrs. Sovero earned three first place ribbons, one second place ribbon, a grand champion ribbon, and a reserve grand champion ribbon.
