JV football team completes service project for needy children

The JV team was happy to be part of the food in a backpack program. They held a Blessings In A Backpack service project on Oct 17. Each player brought in their own food to help kids in need. All the players helped put all the food in ziplock bags for the children.
The bags were filled with Oatmeal packets, Honey Granola Bars, Nutri-Grain Fruit Bars, Pudding, Fruit, Applesauce, and Chicken Noodle Soup. Each bag contained 3-4 items each.
Players also donated cash to the program, All the money raised is used to feed our local children. It costs only $100 to feed one child on the weekends for an entire school year.
Blessings In A Backpack is a non-profit organization that feeds school children in the United States. This organization provides nutritional food to school children in need. The program was created by Missy Hammerstrom and Stan Curtis, and was established in 2005. their goal is to provide three meals a day for school children.
There are many ways to help, like donating, fundraising, keeping in touch and getting involved, and supporting local blessing programs. This program is for anyone who wants to help children who need food because they can’t afford it.
Additionally what do children do when schools are closed do to inclement weather?
“We provide them with Blizzard Bags. Blizzard Bags are emergency snack packs that provide food when there is a emergency,” said Lori Gardner.
