Today in Black History month, we recognize Jimi Hendrix, who was born on November 27, 1942 and died on September 18, 1970. Jimi Hendrix was a rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Although his mainstream career spanned only four years due to his death at only 27 years of age, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music”.  Two quotes that Jimi Hendrix is famous for are “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace’”, and “Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.”  Jimi Hendrix was not only a ground-breaking guitar player, but also a deep thinking African American man.
