The Key Club is a student-led group affiliated with The Lion’s Club, whose purpose is to do all they can to make the world a better place. For November and December, Linganore’s Key Club has been collecting pop tabs.

Soda can tabs are made of aluminum, and the pop tops are recycled in exchange for money which is used to purchase fuel for transportation to local hospitals.

The Ronald McDonald House allows other children and families to have and obtain all of the needed necessities.  They provide a home for families to stay while a child is in hospital care.

Class of 2021 member, Katie Morseman said, “The club means a lot to me. It’s a place where I can help my community alongside my friends and have fun while making a positive impact.”

Ms. Dawn Aburto said, “Cole [Class of 2019] has been collecting pop tabs since the third grade. His collection has added up to over a million.”

This is Cole Lee’s ninth year collecting and donating. All of these collections are what allow families who have sick children to have free transportation to go and live in the Ronald McDonald House.

It’s not too late to donate. Place your pop tops in the donation bins down at the cafeteria during your lunch shifts!
