Congratulations to the nine Linganore students who won a total of 13 awards in the 2018 Scholastic Art Awards contest.
Senior Rachel Sorenson said, “Recieving an award is a really exciting feeling because all of my hard work is noticed by the judges.”
According to the Scholastic Art Awards website, “The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in grades 7–12.” These pieces were evaluated and scored based on their originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal vision or voice.
Mrs. Geisser, an art teacher, said, “It’s an honor for our students to receive these regional awards which are given yearly, and our students compete against five other states to win these awards. Students who were presented with a Gold Key Award will move on to the national competition.”
