Kirkland’s class celebrates book club achievements: Photo of the Day 12/21/18

On December 20, Mrs. Randi Kirkland and her senior students celebrated the accomplishments they have achieved in their English class. The whole class created a book club, and, at the end of the unit, celebrated and discussed their books.
For the semester, in the first 20-25 minutes of each class, students chose a book and read for that portion of the class. After everyone was ultimately done with the their books, they gathered for a full class and discussed which books they read.
Sometimes a book is so interesting, the class will agree to read it together. The most recent book was a more suspenseful chosen by senior Jamie Lawson, Stalking Jack the Ripper.
Jamie Lawson said, ” I liked the book because it led into a lot of suspense and always had me wanting to read more.”
Kirkland often asks questions. “Why did you chose to read this book?” “What got you to keep reading?” and “Can some of the parts in this book relate to you?”
