March 1, 2018
On February 28, meteorologist Amelia Draper visited for a 30-minute presentation about how she came to be a meteorologist. She spoke about the education she had to go through to get where she is today and she explained how her humble beginnings turned into great things.
Draper now works for Storm Team 4 meteorology. Draper attended Middletown High School and attended Penn State. She spoke about how her first job had school desks as work spaces and how she got the job because of how close she lived to Salisbury. Her next assignment was in Erie, Pennsylvania to pursue her passion further. Draper advanced through small and medium markets until she finally landed with the Storm Team 4.
Mr. Chris Bittner, assistant principal, started the the Lancer Lecture Series this year and helped to bring Draper to LHS. “Mrs. Draper, I feel, is an amazing role model for students because she shows that anything is possible if you work hard enough.”
He also said if anyone has suggestions for new speakers, they can report the ideas to him or the school’s principal, Mrs. Nancy Doll.
