Independent Living class bakes cookies: Photo of the Day 9/18/17
September 18, 2018
It’s the first demo cooking day for the Independent Living students in Mrs. Kate Lane’s class.
Lane’s introduction consisted of a short story about her son’s football game from over the weekend and several other short stories teaching lessons about students in the past who have not followed classroom rules.
Junior Ashley Martin made two batches of cookies for everyone to observe, showing the class how to measure different products and the differences between the attachments for the KitchenAid mixer and how to properly wash hands.
Lane awed her students with her one-handed egg cracking skills.
The class concluded with eating the cookies.
Although the cookies didn’t come out exactly as expected, they were still very sweet and delicious. The consistency was soft and gooey. Lane speculated that the butter was too soft.
Senior Hanna Dufresne said, “I love the soup cookies.”
If you love cooking, baking, learning basic life skills, or simply earning the credits you need to graduate, remember to sign up for Mrs. Lane’s Independent Living class. Whether you’re in the class or not, you can still access all the recipes on Mrs. Lane’s website. Find out more on Lanefacs.com.
