The weekend of October 13 was the second weekend for Butler’s Orchard fall season.  The orchard is open every day, every weekend until the first weekend of November. Families and friends have plenty of time to enjoy apples, pumpkins and more in Germantown, Maryland.

It’s normally just like other pumpkin patched, but this year they’ve had some major upgrades. Not only do they have fall themed foods such as cider and pumpkin donuts, but they also have a hay playground, corn mazes, pony rides, a petting zoo, and even a pumpkin cannon. This year they also added an inflatable jumping pad and more accessible ATMs.

Butler’s Orchard was founded by Shirley and George Butler and began as a 37-acre field selling over 25 acres of peaches to local farms. Now they have over 300 acres and sell over 25 varieties of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and trees.

Their Pumpkin Patch Festival is only one out of many of the events that they offer. They also offer birthdays, hayrides, bonfires, campfire party sites, Strawberry Blossom Tours or Pick Your Own group outings. Any and every event is perfect for kids and adults alike; all ages would be entertained.

Poolesville high school senior and first time festival attendee, Emily Wilson said, “It’s so casual and gorgeous here. I love it!”

People of Montgomery County, who have had this Pumpkin Festival for themselves years before it became more popular, rave about Butler’s Orchard. It’s time you travel down there and take a look at what all the fuss is about.
