You may have heard about the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry of  England and American actress, Meghan Markle. However, you may not have realized just how many standards the couple has broken. Meghan Markle is the first American woman to be welcomed into the English Royal family. She is not the first woman to have been divorced before the marriage; however, it is frowned upon by the royals.

If that is not enough, she is also the first African-American woman to be married into the British Royal Family and crowned Duchess of Sussex- which is the first time this title has been used.

I did not wake up at six o’clock in the morning on Saturday, May 19 to watch the wedding; however, I did watch a later showing of the wedding. I believe the wedding should be important to us because of our relations with the UK and since the duchess is American.  Much criticism has been thrown her way.

On the wedding day, Meghan traveled to the castle in a car through the procession route with her mother, Doria Ragland. Meghan was joined by her bridesmaids and pageboys before arriving at St. George’s’ Chapel. Prince Charles walked her down the aisle as her father had announced that week that he would not be attending the wedding as he was recovering from heart surgery. The wedding included many traditions from her family that were much different then the usual royal wedding such as a lively chorus.

Despite much controversy regarding the duchess, there is no doubt that she looked absolutely stunning in her custom made Givenchy Wedding Dress.
