Mary Jackson was a mathematician and aerospace engineer who became NASA’s first black female engineer.

Dorothy Vaughan was a mathematician and human computer who became the first African-American woman to supervise a staff of white women at NASA. Dr. Mae C. Jemison was a medical doctor, and the first African-American female astronaut. In 1992, she flew into space aboard the Endeavour, becoming the first African-American woman in space.
