Today is Thursday, November 16, and this American Education Week. Today we are in the auditorium because tonight is opening night of our fall play, The Giver. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.
According to the National Education Association, “Public schools are the cornerstone of our communities. This fall, about 3.6 million teachers greeted 60 million students across this country.
That’s right. And teachers face a lot of challenges. From technology and class sizes to testing changes and curricular shifts, teachers today need to be on their game in order to help their students be as successful as they can.
So today, let’s take an extra moment to say Thanks for all the thing teachers do for us.
The Linganore Indoor Color Guard is now accepting sign-ups for the 2018 winter season. Students should sign up for Indoor Guard auditions outside Mr. Dye’s room, D113, by Friday, November 17.

Do you enjoy visiting the National Aquarium in Baltimore? Students in grades 9-12 with an interest in marine biology and conservation may want to apply for the 2018 Student Summer Program at the National Aquarium. Application packets are available in C103. LHS can nominate three students for this opportunity.
Are you a junior with an interest in science, business, data analysis, or I-T? If so, consider applying for a prestigious internship with the National Cancer Institute. This internship begins this summer and continues throughout the senior year. Earn $3,500 while exploring a career field and earning weighted credits . The application is online. Juniors with an interest in science or medicine The United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Ft. Detrick is now accepting applications for their internship that will begin this summer. For details, see any science teacher or stop by C103.
