The NHS talent show will be held on Wednesday, April 12th, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $3.00 for students and $5.00 for adults. There will be a rehearsal on Tuesday, April 11th.
The NAHS Color Run scheduled for Saturday, April 8th, has been cancelled
The nominations have been reviewed by the committee and LHS has selected the male and female Scholar Athlete for Linganore High School for the 2016-2017 school year. The winners, who will represent Linganore at the banquet on April 25th, are Caroline Ward and Tyson Tregoning.
Attention juniors and seniors: Prom tickets will be going on sale next week, so make sure you don’t have any outstanding obligations. If you’re unsure, or if you have any questions, please see Mrs. Shapiro in the front office.
A reminder to student drivers to park in student designated parking areas only! Tickets are being issued daily to vehicles parking in staff, visitor and bus lots. Need a parking permit? Applications can be found in the front office AND on the LHS website.
Lancer Media will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt throughout Linganore. If you find an Easter egg around the school, open the contents and bring the egg to room C203, where you will receive a prize and be entered into a drawing. It will go on until Spring Break. Happy Hunting!
Attention African American Culture Club Members: Our field trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture is tomorrow! Meet in the front lobby at 8:00 am. Eat a big breakfast in the morning and bring lunch and snacks. Wear comfortable shoes! Dress for success!
The Healing Hearts drive is collecting children’s books, coloring books, crayons and new stuffed animals. These items will be donated to the New Market Volunteer Fire Department for the firefighters to give to children to comfort them in high stress situations. A donation box is set up in the front office and donations will be accepted until Thursday, April 13th.
Do you have a great idea for a business? Consider applying for the Startup Frederick competition for a chance to pitch your idea in front of a live audience. The winner of the County competition will take home a $2,000 scholarship. See Ms. Radil-Harris in room C103 today.
Latin 3 student, Gia Haemmerle, is trying to raise the funds to attend the National Junior Classical League convention in Alabama during the last week of July. The registration fee is $395 and is due by May 15th. In an effort to help her, the Latin Club is selling the remaining Latin Club t-shirts for $10 each. All proceeds will go to Gia’s convention costs.
The Drama and Performing Arts departments have been hard at work these past few weeks in preparation for our spring musical “The Addams Family”.
And now for sports related news…
Congratulations to the following four PREP groups who finished in the top four positions for the March Madness Tournament: Ms. Smithhisler with 2060 points, Ms. Scott with 2020 points, Ms. Purgason with 2020 points, and Ms. Ericcson with 1983 points. These PREP groups will all be rewarded with donuts!
Last night, the Varsity lacrosse teams beat Catoctin. The boys’ team won 10-4 and the girls’ team score was 22-6.
The boys’ tennis team beat Brunswick 5-0 and the girls’ tennis team lost 4-1.
Tonight, the baseball and softball teams will be taking on Middletown at home.
The tennis teams will also be playing Middletown at home. Both matches start at 4:00 pm.
The track and field teams will be competing against TJ and South Hagerstown at South Hagerstown. The meet starts at 4:00 pm.
