Are you a leader, collaborator and planner? Check out the FCPS Summer Environmental Leadership Experience! Two credits will be earned in leadership, service learning and journalism. Informational flyers are in Student Services, or visit the “News and Events” tab on the Virtual School Website. Applications are due by Friday, May 13th.
Catoctin High School art students have made the top 50 (out of 2,400 nationwide entries) for the Vans Custom Culture Contest. There are only ten more voting days before Vans announces the winner for each of the five regions. If they make the top five, the students will be flown to California and have a chance to win $50,000 for their schoo’s art department. Voting takes less than five seconds each day. It’s very easy. Got to the site, click on Northeast Region and select Catoctin High School. You can vote once per day until Wednesday, May 11th. They will announce the winner from each region on Thursday, May 12th.
Linganore High School presents a Spring Concert featuring the String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, 9th Grade Band and Symphonic Band, on Thursday, May 5th, at 7:00 pm at the Linganore High School Theater. Join us for Bach, Mozart, Van Morrison and Star Wars. All seats are a $5.00 donation at the box office.
A friendly reminder that Prom is this Saturday, May 7th, at the Holiday Inn near FSK mall. It begins at 8:00 pm. Any non-LHS guest needs to bring a photo ID to get in.
The Frederick County Tech Department has honored three Linganore students: Kacey, Robert and John. Congratulations to those three students!
Seniors only have 14 more days of school left!
And now for sports related news…
The Varsity tennis team travels to Oakdale High School to play their last tennis match of the season. The bus will leave at 2:40 pm. Good luck to the tennis squads!
Congratulations to the JV softball team on an undefeated season and a huge win against Catoctin 9-7, to end the season yesterday. Congratulations to Emily Day for her three run home run and to the rest of the team for sticking together and working hard to get the last victory of the season.
The JV boys’ lacrosse won last night 14-8, finishing the season in a fantastic manner, winning every game, except one. Great job, Lancers!
The Varsity boys’ lacrosse team won 8-6 last night. They finished the regular season with one loss, as well, and now look forward to the postseason!
The JV girls’ lacrosse team lost last night. Great season, girls!
The Varsity girls’ lacrosse team lost, as well. They also had a fantastic regular season and are getting ready for the playoffs!
