Fire truck visits Little Lancers for Fire Safety Week: Photo of the Day 11/17/16

Every year, the Libertytown fire station brings in a fire truck and ambulance for the Little Lancers to see. The children go out to the truck and learn about it while having fun and playing with the hose.
The children asked the firefighters a lot of questions. They held the hose (with the help of a firefighter) and shot the water over the fence. As the trucks left, they turned on the lights so the children could see the truck in action.
This event is something many students, including seniors Alyssa DeVries and Olivia Wolfe, look forward to every year. “It’s just great to see how excited they [the children] get and how much fun they have,” said Wolfe.
Leading up to the fire truck event, the children learn different things throughout the week regarding Fire Safety.
“We teach them about how to call 911 and what it means, what a hose and ladder are, ‘stop-drop-and roll’ and other safety things,” said DeVries.
