Jamie Hendi has taught at Linganore High School for three years. During the 2015-2016 school year, she will be teaching Government, AP Political Science, and World War II.
In 1991, Hendi graduated from the University of Delaware and gained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. In 1994, she graduated from the Columbus School of Law and gained a law degree. She later achieved her Master’s degree for teaching at Mt. Saint Mary’s in 2013. Before becoming a teacher, she was a lawyer and a private investigator.
“I was a lawyer and a private investigator. I felt like I was on the wrong side. I got sick of lining people’s pockets and making people rich, not really making a difference. At the end of the day I couldn’t list any accomplishments that I did to make the world a better place, and I decided that my life needed to have a little more meaning,” said Hendi.
Why do ninth graders need to know Mrs. Hendi?
Hendi strives to go beyond her teaching requirements. Most students go into government dreading the months to come, but Hendi makes learning fun. Her goal is to encourage students to be curious about the world and what is going on in our government. Hendi also encourages students to practice good study and organizational habits.
“Get organized, stay organized, don’t be overwhelmed. There are a lot of students and teachers that will help you, but it is not middle school, you are going to have to really work and develop good study skills and figuring out what you are going to do post high school,” said Hendi.
