Last week FCPS started construction on a new fence next to the softball field.

Principal Dave Kehne and Assistant Principal Greg Keller said that the school has been asking for this fence for almost two years. FCPS was able to begin the construction once they had the funding for the fence.

“We wanted the fence to be built to protect our (sports) fields,”  said Mr. Keller.

The main reason for the new fence is protection, keeping vehicles out of the baseball and softball fields. Last year, Linganore had the fence near the baseball field built.

The gates in the fence will allow easy access since the road the fence is built on is an emergency vehicle road. The construction workers are waiting to put up the gates.

The noise was quite disturbing to the classes in the west wing. The repeated sound of a jackhammer outside the window temporarily distracted students.

However, the timing was not up to Kehne. He is  thankful LHS finally got the fence approved.
