The 4th annual eggnog jog started at 9:00 a.m with over a hundred people ready to race. This holiday themed race is two miles. The twist is that every quarter mile participants have to take a swig of eggnog to increase the difficulty of the run. The eggnog jog is  mainly for raising awareness for children with Leukemia, and the money is donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).

The Eggnog Jog originated when a nine year old boy named Quentin Ingram was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and died six months later. His Linganore family then started a toy drive around the holidays to honor him, but the SGA felt like they could do more to raise awareness.  Mrs. Janet Ingram is the cheerleading coach at LHS.

“It gives kids dealing with cancer hope knowing that people in the community care about them, and are willing to help out,” said Annie Watsic, Class of 2019 member who helped volunteer at the jog. Last year the jog earned $4,770 in donations.

“It’s a good way to bring everyone a bit closer together during the holiday season,” said Class of 2019 member Caitlyn Cook.
