Ms. Samantha Hartman and Mr. Michael Rich’s 4th Period Algebra  class braved the June heat to launch Angry Birds across the football field. They collected data and then used quadratic regression to help determine the launch angle that would produce a maximum distance.

Angry Birds is an app in which birds get angry at pigs for stealing their eggs, and they take revenge by using slingshots to destroy their forts. Different birds have different abilities, and a level is passed by destroying all the pigs. The game is known for teaching students about angles and trajectory.

“It was actually really fun, even though it was hot out,” student Aprilynn Slifker said. “It was a good experience.”
