It’s day 3 of National Classics Week! Today’s hill, the Esquiline Hill, was home to the famous gardens of Maecenas, the passionate patron of great poets such as Vergil and Horace. Today is a day to thank those who help us succeed by aiding them in the spread of ancient culture into our communities. Express your appreciation to our Latin teacher, Mrs. Carter, for promoting the classics and celebrate her dedication to the Junior Classical League. In the spirit of Maecenas, go out into the community and spread your love of the classics.

For anyone who is scheduled to take an AP exam in May, don’t forget to attend the AP Pre-administration session after school, today or tomorrow.  Students with the last name beginning with A-L should attend today, while students with the last name beginning with M-Z should attend tomorrow, April 23. Sessions begin at 2:30 and will last until about 3:15.  Be sure to bring a number two pencil with you.

Today is Earth Day! The SGA is sponsoring an after-school event to recognize the day and to help with Linganore’s outward appearance.  Meet in room C101 at 2:30 if you plan to participate. Everyone is welcome. Come ready to work outside rain or shine. They will be dividing up the outdoor areas into cleaning and prepping for spring planting.  Bring a piece of clothing to tie dye too!  Any questions- see Bailey Tregoning or Mr. Brown.

Are you interested in keeping our school community clean?  Looking for a community service opportunity?  If so, the LHS PTSA has an opportunity for you!  The next Adopt-A-Road clean-up morning will be held this coming Sunday, April 27, starting at 8 am.  The event lasts approximately two hours.   For more information, contact senior Kellie Baker or Phyllis Baker at the link below.

All this week, the Class of 2016 has asked the sports teams to help support their canned food campaign by challenging each other to bring in the most cans for their teams. The team that donates the most cans will win ice cream /popsicle treats after practice.
