On May 7th, Read 180 teacher Brittney Garst asked her students if they could read 3 million words. As of June 4th, the answer is “YES!” The classes celebrated with a pizza party!

“I felt excited and I was happy for them when they reached 3 million words,” says Garst.

Freshman Drew Nicoll read the most words (260,000). In addition, freshmen Chantz Appleby, Raymond Meldrom and Maggie Hewitson read a total of 15 books and were given candy as an award.

“I didn’t think that we were going to reach our goal,” says Appleby. “I was really surprised.”

As the school year comes to an end, students were asked what their favorite part of the class.

“I likes trying to reach the goal. It was a concept we tried to do, and we all helped other classmates, too,” says freshman Travis Thompson.

“My favortie part was the team effort. It wasn’t individual, everyone worked together as a whole,” says Appleby.
