This is the seventh profile in Lancer Media’s Back to School Series: New Teachers.

Students can spot Mr. Michael Rich helping special needs students as well as teaching classes in Algebra, Biology, and English 12.

An LHS graduate, Rich attended Towson University. After college, he began teaching in the special needs program at Ballenger Creek Middle. From the beginning Rich wanted to coach football. Coaching at a young age eventually led him to his teaching career path.

Rich wants to teach at Linganore because he graduated and is familiar with the community. Not only does Rich teach, but he coaches football as well.

This year, Rich looks forward to teaching in the community and being with the kids in order to help them achieve success.

“In high school I would have been a part of the sports crowd,” said Rich.

Rich’s favorite teachers in high school were his Spanish teacher, Mrs. Marga Doughty, and football coach Rick Conner.
