Members of the Science National Honor Society are reminded of a community service workday this Saturday, November 12th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary.

Animals 101 club members:  Don’t forget your YANKEE CANDLE SALES ENVELOPES. Please bring them to the meeting on Friday, November 11th. You still have a few days left to sell your candles.  Remember, the proceeds will go to help the local Humane Society and Rescues in the Frederick County area. Thank you in advance.

ALL FCA Club Members:  Please remember to bring in your filled “Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox” by Friday, November 11th.  Shoeboxes can be dropped off at Ms. Becker’s office anytime throughout the day.  If you need a shoebox or an envelope/label, you can pick either of those items up at Ms. Becker’s office.  Let’s beat our record of boxes collected last year!  Also, if you have not done so, please swing by Ms. Becker’s office and sign up to work the Lancer Candy Lane on Saturday, December 10th.  Spend a couple of fun hours helping the kids make our Candy Cane Christmas Tree ornament.

The results of the LHS mock election are in!  Trump won with 56% of the vote.  Clinton got 31%, Johnson got 7% and Stein got 5%.  Our voter turnout wasn’t great though – only 34% of students who were present at lunch voted.  This is much lower than the national average.  Didn’t care?  Didn’t feel like getting up?  Couldn’t decide?  Remember, voting is one of our most important responsibilities in our democracy.  Your voice is your vote and if you don’t vote, don’t complain!

Now for sports related news…

On Monday, the Varsity volleyball team beat Tuscarora 3-1.  Tonight, the volleyball team takes on North Hagerstown at home.

Come out to support the Varsity Lancer cheerleaders at the State Championship this Thursday, November 10th, at Harford Community College at 6:00 pm – doors open at 5:00 pm.  Good luck, ladies!
