#NationalSigningDay2022: Linganore soccer star Mandy Hill signs to Shepherd University
On November 9, Mandy Hill signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Shepherd University.
Hill is a team captain this year for the girls’ varsity soccer team at Linganore High School. She has been on varsity all four years.
Hill is known for her strong technical skills and left foot on the field.
Her greatest moment was the game-winning shot to get to championships.
Hill is going to Shepherd University as a member of the Class of 2027 and majoring in Physiology. Hill is both excited and nervous about playing college soccer. She is happy to get the opportunity to play with new teammates.
“I think it will be good for me to make new friends and be a part of something new,” said Hill.
Hill is the last of three kids in her family leaving high school to go to college. Her mother expressed bittersweet feelings on having her youngest moving on to this next stage.
“I’m sad to see her go, but I’m proud to see her do something new. I’m extremely proud of her and how far she’s come,” said Debbie Hill.
Mike Heller is Hill’s coach in her last year of high school. He joined Linganore High School this year but has been coaching soccer for eight years.
Heller commented on Hill’s role as a team captain and how her skills will serve her in college.
“Her strong physical presence on the field and her technical ability make her stand out … [she is a] strong leader as well,” said Heller.
Heller sees a bright future for Hill as she continues on to play soccer at his alma mater, Shepherd University.
