Christmas Sugar Cookies
Sugar cookie cream
- 6 tablespoon shortening
- 6 tablespoon softened butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 drops of lemon oil
Sugar cookie flour
- 2 ½ cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Sugar cookies instructions
- Stir into creamed mixture
- Chill for at least 1 hour
- Heat oven to 400 degrees
- Roll ⅛ inch thick on floured surface
- Cut with 3 inch cookie cutter
- Place on ungreased baking sheet
Sugar cookie icing recipe
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 2 teaspoons milk
- 1 teaspoons light corn syrup
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract
- Assorted food coloring (optional)
Sugar cookie icing instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together confectioners sugar and milk until smooth
- Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until icing is smooth and glossy
- If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup
- Divide into separate bowls, and add food colorings to each to desired intensity
- Dip cookies, or paint them with a brush
These Christmas sugar cookies can be cut out into a variety of santas, snowmans, christmas trees, mistletoes, silver bells, reindeers, and gingerbread men holding hands.
