Mikayla Moxley
Mikayla Moxley will be attending High Point University and will run NCAA Division I track.
High Point University offers everything she is looking for, including majors and motivational coaches and teammates. Moxley has an interest in forensic psychology.
What has been your favorite memory at Linganore?
“My favorite memory at Linganore was our Outdoor Regional meet that Linganore was able to host my junior year. It was a really cool experience to actually compete on our home track and qualify for all four of my events for the State Meet on the track that I run on every single day.”
What are you going to miss most after graduating?
“I am going to miss seeing so many friends that I have such great friendships with, especially the people I have been close with since elementary and middle school.”
Do you feel pressure to have your future be decided already?
“I think I have a very good idea of what I want to major in, and being committed as a student athlete made the process of deciding on a college a lot easier.”
Best High School memory?
“My favorite high school memory was winning my first state title in Indoor track, where I started the lead and held it the entire race. I got a personal record and qualified for New Balance Nationals.”
What is the most challenging task as a senior?
“The most challenging task as a senior is to get ready for the transition to college and being far away from home and people I have grown up with. The transition is going to be very difficult, but I have already made a lot of close friends throughout the track team at High Point.”
What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?
“I would tell incoming freshmen to cherish every moment of high school and to get involved. Football games and participating in sports were some of my favorite memories from high school, and I wish I would have appreciated them more before the pandemic and graduating.”
Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now?
“Ten years from now, I hope to be using my degree in psychology to be a forensic psychologist. I have goals of working through a law firm to determine if witnesses are fit to testify and assess behavioral and mental disorders in criminals.”
What was the most meaningful assignment a teacher ever had you do?
“The most meaningful assignments a teacher gave me were forensic analysis projects. Ms. Baker’s forensic class allowed me to determine that I want to major in psychology and minor in forensic science. Throughout forensics I was able to learn various tasks that I will hopefully do in my future career.”
When you look back on this school in later years, what will you remember most?
“When I look back, I will remember all the accomplishments I achieved on track. Track and cross country have allowed me to attend my dream university and become a leader. I have learned so much about being a well-rounded person from competing throughout my high school years.”
