Kaya Cooper

Kaya Cooper will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall. Cooper plans to major in veterinary medicine. She is currently co-captain for the Pom & Dance team, interns at a veterinary clinic, and works at Hollister.

What has been your favorite memory at Linganore?

“Dancing at all the football games while on the Poms team. Every game was so much fun!”

 What are you going to miss most after graduating? 

“Mrs. Baker’s anatomy class was my favorite clas,s and I’ll be sad to let it go. Any interested underclassmen–I recommend taking it.”

Do you feel pressure to have your future be decided already?

“I don’t feel too much pressure. I’m excited to start my adult life and career.”

Best High School memory? 

“Dancing at the pep rally my freshman Year. The adrenaline rush was crazy, but it was so much fun!”

What is the most challenging task as a senior?

“Balancing work, sports, and school assignments all at the same time. Added on top of that I had so many college applications I needed to get done.”

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?

“Get your work done on time and plan it out. It’ll make your final years of high school easy.”

Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now?

“I’ll probably be in a new location, working at a vet clinic and coming home to my family.”

What was the most meaningful assignment a teacher ever had you do?

“I was assigned this project by Mr. Norko. It was my narrative essay that I wrote about my cousin. It helped me find a sense of closure that I wasn’t able to find before.”

When you look back on this school in later years, what will you remember most?

“I will most definitely remember my poms’ career and how much I enjoyed dancing.”
