#NationalSigningDay2022: Athletes sign their National Letters of Intent

On February 2, 18 student athletes signed their national letter of intent to continue their sport at the college level.

There were a variety of athletes being recognized at this event including football, basketball, track and field, soccer, swim, lacrosse, dance, golf, field hockey, and beach volleyball.

During PREP and third block, students, staff, parents, and coaches gathered to give the athletes a warm round of applause while they signed their letters.

Students were recognized in front of their peers as they signed their letter. Each student’s coach gave a small speech about their accomplishments as a high school athlete to highlight any records they may have broken and wish them luck in their future endeavors.

Physical Education teacher Rachel Easterday coordinates the event each year to highlight the athletes. Each year it is hosted in what every athlete considers to be their second home, the gymnasium.

Head football Coach Richard Conner also helped in making signing day a success as he was the one who announced the students and read the speeches for coaches who were unable to attend.

Congratulations to Linganore’s newest college athletes: Maria Applegate, Melanie Barger, Aubrey Beale, Catherine Bowers, Leah Coletti, Timmy Conner, Ethan Crabb, Alexi Crosby, Luke DeMember, Grace Doy, Aaron Dufresne, Audrey Kilgore, Dylan Kossoy, Emily Lotito, Sam Metzner, Madie O’Brien, Claire Thomas, and Emma Watkins.
