Rileigh Clum’s ‘Overstimulation’

Rileigh Clum’s “Overstimulation”

The feeling of overstimulation is familiar to teens who are bombarded by social media, advertisting, video games, and more. Junior Rileigh Clum has represented how this feeling looks. To Clum , it includes flaming hair, a clock, and honeycombs.

When Computer Graphics teacher Tracy Bozzonetti introduced the newest project, choose a word and show it in art, Clum knew exactly what word to choose.

“I chose this word because it is something very common, and I knew the feeling in particular. Small things that are soft sounds can seem louder–sight, smell, and sound.  You try to react but your whole head is clogged with honey.”

In Clum’s piece, there are various elements and objects that come together to create the illusion of overstimulation. “When you are overstimulated, time moves faster than it actually is, which is why I added the clock,” explained Clum.

Bozzonetti liked the colors because they stand out compared to the gray face. ” I have a simple cartoon style, not a lot of realism. “

Clum is not only skilled at computer graphics, but in many fields. “I enjoy drawing and using digital art, as well as painting. My other interests are creating horror and fiction stories, and psychology.”
