Girl In Red
Marie Ulven, most commonly known as ‘Girl in Red’ was born on February 16, 1999 in Horten, Norway. Ulven’s music captures pop energy but with an indie twist. Ulven is often seen as an LGBTQ+ icon with codes such as “Do you listen to Girl in Red ” being popularized. Ulven’s music greatly captures what it’s like to be a young LGBTQ+ teen dealing with life’s problems such as mental health issues and being in love. In the first song entitled “Serotonin” on the album if i could make it go quiet, Ulven discusses the feeling of being out of control of your actions and emotions and the fear that comes along with that, such as being afraid you may hurt yourself or others. Not only is Ulven an inspiration for LGBTQ+ youth, but she is also easy to relate to.
