Arlo Parks

Number Eight on this list is Arlo Parks. Anaïs Oluwatoyin Estelle Marinho, most known through the moniker “Arlo Parks”, is a 21-year-old poet and singer from London. Parks started releasing music as a teen and went on to release two acclaimed EPs in 2019 titled Super Sad Generation as well as Sophie. Parks used her time during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to complete her debut album titled Collapsed in Sunbeams which was released January of 2021. Parks’ tracks are moving and emotional, on the song titled “Hope,” listeners are introduced to a character named Millie. In the song, Parks sings “Millie tried to talk the pleasure back into being alive”. The song is laced with emotion with lyrics such as “We all have scars, I know it’s hard. . .You’re not alone like you think you are”. This ,among many other songs by Parks, is not only emotional but also relatable to many making Arlo Parks someone to look out for in 2022.
