Class of 2016: Independent Living seniors get cooking with 11 days left
Ms. Kate Lane’s first period Independent Living class will be saying goodbye to their seniors in just 11 days. Made of freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, the class teaches students necessary life skills and how to function in the adult world on their own.
“I wanted to learn about billing, finances, how to find a house, basically things that aren’t taught normally in school,” senior Rachel Femiano said.
Senior Nick Dellavalle took the class to fulfill his graduation requirement and found himself to really enjoy the material covered in the course, “I would highly recommend taking it, as you learn life skills while having fun.”
Dellavalle, who will be playing baseball for Davis and Elkins College next year, says his favorite part about the class so far was having Lane as his teacher.
Femiano will be attending Towson University this fall and will be missing the cooking labs the class has each week, “My favorite part has been cooking by far.”
