Class of 2016: French Honors Society says “au revoir” to high school with 21 days left
The French Honor Society, lead by French teacher Dragana Blonder, is home to many students who love, not only the French language, but also the culture.
Students who have taken three semesters of French courses and have received at least a B average are eligible to join the “Société Honoraire de Français.” The seniors of this society will receive a cord to wear during their graduation to showcase their dedication and appreciation to the french language.
This year’s world languages induction ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 27. During this induction ceremony, the candle will be passed to all new-coming members of the French Honors Society; cords will be distributed to the seniors; and the officers for the 2016-2017 school year will be announced.
The officers for the 2015-2016 school year are seniors President Emily Jones, Vice President Madeline Wodaski, Secretary Megan Leyh, and Treasurer Michelle Carter.
The officers for the 2016-2017 school year are juniors President Miranda Timberlake, Vice President Emily Barbagallo, Secretary Valerie Coblentz, and Treasurer Madeline Frick.
Jones will be attending Towson University and plans to major in Business Administration and Music Industry. She has contemplated becoming an event planner, but she would enjoy having a career where she could implement her passion for music.
“I’ll miss Madame Blonder and being able to work with such great officers and members united to serve the community through a love of French,” said Jones.
Carter will be attending the University of South Carolina in the fall and will be majoring in Marine Science with a minor in Environmental Science.
“I hope to become a marine biologist because I want to improve the environment and help marine life harmed by pollution and other human activities,” said Carter.
Both Carter and Jones agree that they are going to miss their teachers and the friends they made throughout their four years of attending Linganore, but they look forward to experiencing new things and meeting new people.
With only 21 days left, French Honors Society seniors say “au revoir” to high school and “bonjour” to their future!
