Senior members of the spring production (left to right) Shawn McKinney, Lauren Thompson, Abbie Weinel, Jazlyn Hyde, Rachael Buker, and Andrew Brady, count down to 27 days left of high school.

Class of 2016: 27 days until their dramatic exit

Seniors of the spring musical, The Sound of Music, celebrated their remaining 27 days at Linganore before their big show. The whimsical production is sure to sell out this year.

“My favorite part of being in the show this year is probably just being blessed enough to play Maria,” said Abbie Weinel. “Everyone loves this show so much and being able to play her is so exciting.” Weinel is attending Messiah College in the fall for musical theater.

Jazlyn Hyde will be attending Marymount Manhattan in the fall, studying theater as well.

Andrew Brady and Lauren Thompson both plan to attend Towson University; Brady will study economics, and Thompson is to major in sociology and focus in family studies.

Shawn McKinney is undecided, but plans to get an education in television and cinema.

Rachael Buker is to start her education at Frederick Community College with a focus on music.

“I’m probably going to miss all of the people,” said Weinel, “Everyone is so supportive and kind. I’ve made some of my best friends from being part of the theater and I know I’m going to miss the family we’ve created.”

Come see The Sound of Music on April 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24 for a great show.
