Lancer Spotlight 4/25/23: Linganore boys varsity lacrosse wins a challenging game against Tuscarora Titans

On Tuesday, April 26, the Linganore boys’ varsity lacrosse team played an outstanding game against the Tuscarora Titans, taking home a win with a score of 11-8.

Going into it, the players knew the game against the Titans was going to be challenging. By the end of the first quarter, the game was starting to turn into a tough competition with a tied score of 2-2. 

“We started out a bit slow in the first quarter, but after that we knew we needed to step up and we started to play a lot better,” starting face-off player Aidan Maloney said. 

By the end of the second quarter, the boys were able to score four more points, leading the f first half 6-5. The game was still close, but the boys knew they could counter the Titans’ offense.

“We started communicating, and players, especially Cody Griffis, were starting to feel the momentum,” Linganore mid-fielder Camden Gregory said.

The team entered the second half of the game with a strong attitude and great mindset. They scored five more goals and were able to keep good position on the ball. The final score of the game was 11-8.

Leading scorer Cody Griffis was able to score five goals, four of them being in the second half of the game. Some other players also put in an amazing game: Shawn Eisenhart with three goals, Marco LaRocco with two goals and Kason Gibbons with three assists.

“I would say they put up a good fight, and they have a strong offense, but we were able to counter it,” Maloney said. 

Overall, the team had an amazing performance. During the entire game, Linganore did a very good job with face-off, winning 11. Additionally, goalie Jackson Curtis made 12 saves. The boys were able to bring home another victory for Linganore boys’ varsity lacrosse, bringing the season record to 11-1.

The Lancers upcoming schedule includes the last two games of the season. The first is against Frederick High School on Friday, April 28, at Frederick and the last game will be Senior Night on Tuesday, May 2 against South Hagerstown at home.
