Lancer Spotlight 4/8/2022: Big Sister closet is offering gently used prom gowns

With prom approaching in May, many girls have been searching for dresses. Junior class advisors Tracey Cassidy and Traci Davies have organized an arrangement for gently used prom dresses that can be donated to the school and distributed to high school juniors and seniors who are looking for dresses.

The prom closet will open Monday, April 11, from 2:30-5 for anyone who is interested. There is no cost to any of the gowns.

This the first year hosting this event and it has been very successfu, with 45 gowns donated. Student Service Learners volunteered to organize the gowns by size.

In fact, most students spend $100 – $700 on their prom dresses that they are likely to never wear again after prom. Since many people spend so much money on a dress that they only wear once, this event has also helped those who want to donate their gowns to a good cause.
