The start of the 2021 season for the LHS boys varsity soccer team began with a 0-3 defeat to Walkersville High School on September 14.

The team played well, and an outstanding performance from goalkeepersenior Ethan Brohawn helped keep LHS in with a fighting chance.

Brohawn made some incredible saves and dives throughout the game.

In the abbreviated 2020 season that was delayed until spring 2021, the boys varsity team was off to a rough start, but they ended the season with significant improvement. Their record was 2-8 with wins against Frederick and Catoctin. They are looking to improve on their lackluster record from last season.

Even then Walkersville had a clear advantage in the last 20 minutes of the game, as Linganore player senior Will Jordan got a red card and the team was down to ten men.

LHS was practically on defense for the entire game, generating very little offense. They were also not able to take advantage of there opportunities to score.

“We need to create more attacking plays, being more creative on offensive, and having more leadership and communication throughout the team,” said junior Michael Davis.

Everyone played well, but there is always room for improvement.

Brohawn said, “ I think we played well for our first game as a team, but I think we need more offense next game and would like to score a goal.”

Come watch LHS play every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the game or online. Tickets are $2 for students and $7 for adults.
