On November 16, The National English Honor Society inducted its new members. This was the first induction ceremony since 2019.

Fifty new junior and senior members and four new officers were inducted. The officers also highlighted the sixteen former members inducted last year.

Mrs. Natalie Rebetsky, the advisor for Linganore’s National English Honor Society, spoke about the shared love of language that brought the students together.

“The childhood books you read shaped you to be the person you are today,” Rebetsky said.

The new officers, Caroline Hobson, Madeline Hull, Joshua Parker and Audrey Kilgore were inducted for the 2021-22 school year. Each officer gave a welcoming speech to the new members.

President of NEHS Caroline Hobson, said, “I plan to create inclusive, welcoming events for all, to accept and listen to others’ ideas and creative passions within our society, and to cherish each member’s contributions to society as a whole.”

Afterwards, new members made their way to the stage. As the students crossed the stage, the officers read a biography and they received a certificate and a yellow rose.

Inductee Cattarina Broccolino said, “I’m most looking forward to the activities I will participate in throughout NEHS. I don’t really know what to expect, but I’m just excited for whatever it is we do!”
