On November 23, members of the Key Club volunteered at the annual pancake breakfast, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Mount Airy. The breakfast was held at the Calvary United Methodist Church from 7-11 a.m.

Members of the local Key Clubs were invited to volunteer to help serve and prepare food for hungry guests. The event was a success. Many local residents of Mount Airy and Frederick came to enjoy a delicious hot breakfast and the kids even got to meet Santa.

Volunteers from Linganore and neighboring high schools helped set up tables and chairs, wash dishes, clear tables, and make sure guests were happy with their orders. It was a great way to bring the community together for people of all ages.

“I really liked participating in this event because it brings the community together. It brings people together from all over Frederick and Mount Airy, and I got to see many new friendly faces. I was a server and got to help bring people food and get them what they needed so that they could have an amazing pancake breakfast,” said sophomore Mary Bailey.

The event had a $6 entry fee, but the proceeds will benefit local community service projects and non-profit organizations in Frederick County.  There were also donation bins at the door to donate food to the Mount Airy Net Food Pantry

“The event was a huge success! We had so many Linganore volunteers and really helped boost everyone’s holiday spirit for key club. We volunteer at this event every year since it is hosted by the Kiwanis Club, and its popularity has just grown over the years,” said Key Club president Charlotte Moore.

The Key Club and SGA are working on many winter service projects. Linganore is eager to get into the holiday spirit and have many events to volunteer at. The Egg Nog Jog, and Lancer Candy Lane are two events this holiday season that students can volunteer at to get community service hours and celebrate the holidays. Come out to show your support and enjoy some holiday festivities this December.
