Jake Muller has taken pride in being a part of the new bike club 2018-19, so much that he decided he wanted to start a mountain bike team that competes.

The team will have its first information meeting June 27 in the Learning Commons at 6:30 PM.

Muller said that the team will be practicing on the lower field of Linganore High School and have training at state parks and Shaffer Farms. They will also participate in races around the state.

The first race will take place on September 7 and 8 at Shaffer Farms. The team will have four races throughout the 2019/20 school year.

The team will also hold fundraisers during the year. Muller hopes one will be at California Tortilla in Mount Airy. The money will go toward allowing the team to have new mountain bikes and other equipment for the sport.

“It’ll be a lot of fun. Be sure to come,” he said.

Jake has been riding bikes since he was a kid, and now also races BMX bikes. He has five of his own mountain bikes.

His fascination with bikes lead him to have a close relationship to Patapsco Bike Shop in Mount Airy. Muller hopes that the bike shop will become a supporter.

“I have a good amount of friends who ride, too,” Muller stated.

Muller moved to Linganore last year and since becoming a Lancer has become a member of the Spanish Honor Society, English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
