Today you will see multiple teachers who are wearing purple to show their support for National Recovery Month. We wear purple to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover. The 2019 theme is Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Are Stronger. In 2017, there were 1,985 overdose deaths involving opioids in Maryland. The only way to fight the opioids in Maryland. The only way to fight the opioid problem is to unite together as a community. 

Underclass portraits are today. Picture times are posted in the cafeteria and near the attendance window. 

Attention Linganore musicians, Sign-up sheets are available in the band room for All-State Band, All-County Band and the Towson University Honor Band. Students interested in All-State should sign up by today and students interested in All-County or Towson honor band should sign up by September 26. See Mr. Lloyd for more information. 

Orchestra and Chorus students interested in auditioning for All-State or All-County groups should see Mr. Dye for more information. 

The third annual “Career Night” sponsored by the Maryland State Police will be held next Thursday, September 26, at the Frederick County Law Enforcement Center. Students interested in careers in law enforcement, fire and rescue services, 911 dispatch, forensic sciences, and military services are invited to attend. Posters on Main Street have more information. 

Attention Seniors: Please remind your parents that the discount baby ad deadline is Monday, September 23 at the end of the school day. All materials must be received by the twenty-third to receive the discount. Final deadline is October 16. Extra order forms are outside room A206 

WAGS for HOPE will be in the cafeteria during all lunch shifts today. These are specially trained dogs are here to petted and loved. They love the attention. Stop by. 

The Women in Science & Engineering (WISE) program for 2019- 2020 will have its first meeting on September 25, 2019. WISE is a program developed to encourage females to participate in the fields of science and engineering; however, all students, male and female are welcome to participate. No registration is necessary. Students just show up when they are available. There is a great docket of speakers and fun science door prizes. A typical meeting features a female STEM professionals as a speaker, a science themed ice breaker and a science themed hands-on activity. Meeting occur on Wednesdays at the Earth Space Science Lab from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. 

Today is the last day for students who are applying to the National English Honor Society to turn in a printed application to C207. The application is available at linganorenehs.weebly.com.
