On the week of December 10, the teachers brainstormed, constructed, and finalized their doors. All doors had to be complete by Monday morning, December 17. Teachers had the help from their students, and some honor societies made a door of their own. The National Art Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and the National French Honor Society particiapted in the door decorating.

This event always brings a fun spirit to the school as the clock is ticking until winter break. Walking around and seeing the fun and festive doors is a sign that winter is here.

“My favorite door was Ms. Pupo’s because it’s very elaborate, and there was a lot of work put into it. She drew all the people herself, and it looked very professional,” said Skylar Stevenson, Class of 2021.

The following doors have blue ribbons for excellence:

National English Honor Society – Most Creative

Mrs. Cassidy – Best Winter Scene

Ms. Pupo – Best Use of Space

Mrs. McCauley and Ms. Riley – Most Original

Mrs. Hunley – Best Connected Theme

Ms. Henry – Best Traditional Scene

Ms. Leslie Byrd said, “I think it helps to keep things fun around here with all the tests and benchmarks. It’s a crazy time of the year, but adds some spirit to the halls.”

Teachers generally make the door relate to the subject they teach. This causes a sense of wonder about what they might come up with this year. The door decorating can help students have a fun activity to work on since all they can think of is winter break.
