Classmates4Life annually hosts a contest for students to raise awareness for drug abuse, specifically heroin. It is a county-wide contest available to elementary, middle, and high students. The entry deadline is March 1.

Junior Alex Ismael was a 2016 FCPS winner. He said, “I think raising awareness is very important because all across America heroin use is out of control. Losing people to drugs needs to be ended because it’s something we can prevent.”

Two additional videos from Linganore were submitted:  one by Katie Knotts and another created by a team of Learning for Life students.

The video is expected to be 30-60 seconds long, and it highlights the dangers that drug abuse exposes someone to.

In the press release, Billy Shreve, a member of the Frederick County Council, reported, “We know that when young people talk to their peers about the dangers of drugs and how to avoid them, we can save lives. We want kids to have the loudest voices rallying against drugs.”
