FCPS will be hosting the second annual environmental expo on April 14th, and are looking for student volunteers. This is an excellent opportunity to earn science national honor society hours. See the link below for more information and to sign up to volunteer.  

For the Mu Alpha Theta Pi day charity event, Ms.Doll will be collecting donations for Breast Cancer Awareness, Ms. Pupo for Pro Mujer, Ms. Karstens for Pet Harbor, Ms. Byrd for ARC of Frederick, Ms Diggs, Ms. Rebetsky, Ms. Purgason, Ms. Weiss and Ms. Blum all for Lily’s Hope, and Mr. Brown for Linganore’s Relay for Life.  Visit the table at the front of the cafeteria during lunch to make donations and to see a staff member get pied in the face!

Attention AP European History Students: Review for May’s AP Exam begins next Tuesday morning, March 20th, at 6:30 am. You must see Mr. Burch prior to this meeting to get a laminated pass for building access. Happy studying Lancers.

WISE (Women In Science and Engineering) meets Wednesday, March 14 from 7-8:15 PM at the FCPS Earth and Space Science Laboratory (ESSL) at 210 Madison Street in Frederick. The featured speaker is Bari Ballew, a bioinformatics scientist from the Division of Career Epidemiology and Genetics, NCI, NIH. Come enjoy a women’s history month theme, science door prizes and a hands-on activity!

The Lancer Lecture series will be welcoming Kerry Hawk Lessard on March 22nd. She will be speaking about the culture and history of Native Americans. Sign ups will be posted in the cafeteria and started yesterday.

Public voting for the Classmates4Life video competition is now open. Classmates4Life is county wide contest in which students at the high school level were asked to put together a short PSA centered around the question, “How do drugs wreck your world?” Here is a submission from one of our own juniors here at Linganore: Hanna Dufresne.
